- The IPC Solder Product Value Association (SPVC) conducted a reliability study to determine whether the performance of various tin silver copper (SAC) alloys in lead-free alloys is equivalent in assembly, metallographic analysis and basic characteristics, thermal shock and temperature cycling. The conclusion of SPVC is that the performance of the three SAC alloys is not significantly different, and it is recommended to use SAC 305 as the preferred lead-free alloy in the electronics industry.
